How does a city of 24 million, Kinshasa, organise itself, and what are the aspirations of Nigeria, with its 240 million people? What is happening in villages, and what in the great cities? What do people do, and who are their idols? Who are their leaders? How do they have fun, and what do they talk about? What battles are they fighting? How can we cooperate, and what can they teach us? <\/p>\n

The security situation is probably the best it has been in decades. Even so, Afghanistan remains a demanding country to travel through. Dirty hotels, checkpoints, travel permits, poor infrastructure, simple food, internet blackouts\u2026Yet once you visit certain places, the beauty of the landscape, the rich history and the incredible people make it all worthwhile. Bamiyan, where the Taliban blew up the ancient Buddhas in 2001. The high-altitude turquoise lakes of Band-e Amir. The remote Wakhan Valley, home to the Wakhi and Kyrgyz people. Ro\u017ele Bregar, filmmaker and adventurer who has been exploring Arctic regions for more than a decade, returns with the lecture Greenland: Life on the Edge of Ice.This is not a classic travel lecture, but an invitation to the edge of the world \u2013 to a place where silence, ice and wind write stories across endless white landscapes, and where time loses its meaning.<\/p>

Crossing icy labyrinths by sailboat and dog sled, admiring wild and remote corners, living with the Inuit \u2013 hunters who carry within them the knowledge of survival as once taught only by Mother Nature. Top musicians, known as soloists and members of many Slovenian ensembles, will present themselves in an interesting combination, which with their virtuosity and wit will present Slovenian folk music in contemporary and live arrangements, and incidentally, but just as truly, will also often come from the cauldron of the world\u2019s brass bands. This time, Arne will present a rich selection of photographs taken as part of a broader project on the many salt pans he has visited during his travels around the world.We will journey from Krpan\u2019s mare to Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s \u201cSalt March\u201d, which sparked the movement for India\u2019s liberation from British colonial rule, and on to places that have been inevitably shaped by salt production.
